Inspection (UVA)

What is UV Blacklight Inspection?

Blacklight NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) uses ultraviolet (UV) light to reveal surface flaws like cracks or porosity in materials, primarily through Penetrant Testing (PT) (revealing cracks with fluorescent penetrant) or Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) (highlighting defects with fluorescent magnetic particles), by making fluorescent materials “glow” in dark conditions, ensuring safety and quality without damaging the part. This involves applying a fluorescent agent, removing excess, then using a high-intensity UV “blacklight” (usually UVA, around 365nm) to find glowing indications of defects, requiring dark environments and specialized UV LEDs or lamps
